Dramas To Watch Out For In June 2022
The first quarter of the year was a mixed bag of Korean dramas with some hits such as “Business Proposal”, “All of us are Dead”, and “Twenty-Five, Twenty-One” and some misses such as “Thirty-Nine” and “Forecasting Love and Weather”.
The second quarter started strong with shows such as “The Sound of Magic” and “Woori the Virgin”. But neither of the shows captured the heart of the audience. Come June and we have a long list of drama releases that pique our interests. Here are some of the shows to watch out for in June 2022.
Dramas To Watch Out For In June 2022
1. Eve
Date: June 1
Episodes: 16
Cast: Seo Yea Ji, Park Byung Eun, Yoo Sun, Lee Sang Yeob
Plot: First up is the much-awaited and much-delayed revenge drama in which a girl spends 13 years of her life plotting against the rich who wronged and ruined her family.
This is a sort of a drama comeback for Seo Ye Ji who has been constantly in the news for one scandal or another. If this show takes off, it might cool down audiences who have been disappointed by her frequent scandals.
2. Why Her?
Date: June 3
Episodes: 16
Cast: Seo Hyun Jin, Hwang In Yeop, Bae In Hyuk
Plot: A successful lawyer sees a downfall in her career after which she has to work as a professor at a law school where she meets a student with whom she shares a troubled past.
This show is the one I’m looking forward to the most. Seo Hyun Jin and Hwang In Yeop will nail it with their performances I have no doubt about that. And the storyline (except the teacher-student angle) excites me.
3. Doctor Lawyer
Date: June 3
Episodes: 16
Cast: So Ji Sub, Shin Sung Rok, Im Soo Hyang,
Plot: An elite surgeon who turns into a lawyer after one of his patients passes away post a surgery performed by him. He becomes a lawyer to uncover the truth behind the patient’s death.
Such a riveting plot. Considering the experienced cast, you can expect some stellar performances.

4. Cleaning Up
Date: June 4
Episodes: 16
Cast: Kim Jae Hwa, Jeon So Min, Yeom Jung Ah
Plot: Three women working as the cleaning staff for a brokerage company happen to be privy to insider information and decide to invest in stock market using the information acquired at work.
This one looks like an amusing drama with an unusual plot and interesting female characters.
5. Link: Eat, Love, Kill
Date: June 6
Episodes: 16
Cast: Yeo Jin Goo, Moon Ga Young, Song Deok Ho
Plot: A boy whose sister went missing twenty years ago starts a restaurant in the same place she was last seen. One day, he suddenly connects with a woman and happens to feel and share emotions with her.
No doubt the plot is interesting but it is the pairing that I’m most looking forward to. Jin Goo and Ga Young are both talented young actors and it will be interesting to see them together in a show.
6. Insider
Date: June 8
Episodes: 16
Cast: Kang Ha Neul, Lee Yoo Young, Cha Yub
Plot: A judicial apprentice conducts an insider investigation that leads him to prison where he fights it out to get back his normal life.
Kang Ha Neul looks extremely fierce in this complete change of avatar as a prisoner. It gives me “Prison Break” vibes. It will be exciting to see him in this drama.
7. Yumi’s Cells – Season 2
Date: June 10
Episodes: 14
Cast: Kim Go Eun, Park Jin Young, Ahn Bo Hyun
Plot: The second season of Yumi’s Cells takes off from where it ended in season 1. This season will dive deeper into Kim Yu Mi and Bobby Yoo’s relationship.
This is an adorable drama with Go Eun (cuteness personified ) looking for love in life but always meeting disappointment in the end. Hopefully, this season she might find the one and hold on to him forever.
8. Jinxed At First
Date: June 16
Episodes: 16
Cast: Na In Woo, Seo Hyun, Ki Do Hoon
Plot: A man is labeled ‘unlucky’ by those around him because of unfortunate events that befall him all the time. His life is to change soon as he comes in contact with a lady who possesses the touch of fortune and can change his life.
Now here is a drama that promises to be full of fun and love. It looks like a rom-com that is light and easy to enjoy.
9. Alchemy of Souls
Date: June 18
Episodes: 20
Cast: Jung So Min, Lee Jae Wook, Min Hyun
Plot: In the country of Daeho lives a young boy who belongs to the noble family but hides a secret of his birth. He meets a female warrior who agrees to become his servant but also trains him to fight.
This one looks like a fun love story. Jung So Min can build convincing chemistry with all her co-stars so her romance with Jae Wook is likely to be hot and sweet.
10. Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area
Date: June 24
Episodes: 12
Cast: Yoo Ji Tae, Kim Yun Jin, Park Hae Soo
Plot: The Korean adaptation of the super hit Spanish series follows a similar storyline with a professor planning and executing a massive heist in Korea.
With an impressive star cast, it remains to see if the Korean version of Money Heist manages to deliver or even surpass the original Spanish version.
11. Café Minamdang

Plot: Based on the web novel “Minamdang: Case Note”, the follows the life of a criminal profiler who disguises himself as a shaman and runs a fortune-telling shop called Minamdang.

So many dramas are scheduled for release this month. I’m hoping to like at least of these as much as I loved “My Liberation Notes“. Let’s wait and watch how many hit the bullseye and how many miss.
