Inspired by renowned musician Hikaru Utada’s popular songs “First Love” and “Hatsukoi”, the show is set to have around 10 episodes and will premiere on Netflix worldwide.

Have a look at its love-soaked trailer.

“First Love” is the love story of a man and woman spanning over decades. Yae Noguchi (Hikari Mitsushima) dreams of being a flight attendant before an accident shatters her ambition. Harumichi Namiki (Takeru Satoh) is a pilot for Japan’s Air Force before his life takes a new turn and he decides to follow his heart.

I have many reasons to feel excited about this show. Firstly, second-chance love makes it to the top 5….no scratch that….top 2 of my favourite drama tropes. From the trailer, it looks like our leads meet in the 90s, separate in the 2000s, and then meet again years later. Since the story starts in the 90s it means it will have the most dreamy setting that brings back some fond childhood memories.

Everything about this drama is giving me that warm fuzzy feeling I have been missing since I got into a drama slump. And this show is kind of stoking a fire in me. And the cherry on the cake is my fav Takeru Satoh in a romantic drama. ❤❤😍😍🥰🥰

Secondly, I LOVE Hikaru Utada’s music. I first heard ‘Hatsukoi’ in the show “Boys Over Flowers 2“. The show was not that memorable but her song stayed with me ever since. It is the first Japanese song that I know to sing because I used to hear it on auto-repeat so I went ahead and learnt its Japanese lyrics too. Trust me if you haven’t heard the song then here it is. Do listen to it once.

“First Love” will be available for streaming on November 24, 2022, on Netflix.
