I bought this book because my younger brother is a fan of Varun Agarwal. He was after me to get this book for him and so I did. I had read about this book back when it had released but for some reason couldn’t get my hands on it. So, when the book was delivered I read it in one go and finished it over a Saturday evening. The book is simple, to the point and a quick read. It is for those people (like me) who don’t know what they want to do in life. The book is about an engineering student who does not want to get a job and dreams of becoming an entrepreneur. I could totally relate to the author’s state of mind where he wants to be different from the rest but does not know how. I could imagine myself when the author wrote about lying on the bed, staring at the ceiling fan doing nothing. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and let me tell you what is so cool about it.

Varun has completed his engineering and is not looking out for a job. He does not want to follow the crowd and wishes to become an entrepreneur. The problem is he does not know what business he wants to do till an idea strikes him and he sets out on living his dream. Like any other entrepreneur, Varun’s journey is also full of roadblocks that he needs to cross if he wants to realise his dream. Of all the hurdles in his entrepreneurial journey, it is his Anu Aunty who he wants to dodge and prove that he is capable of much more than she thinks he is.
Points I Liked About How I Braved Anu Aunty & Co-founded A Million Dollar Company
Writing: This book may not qualify as a literary masterpiece nonetheless, it is an interesting read. The book is replete with cuss words, Hinglish words and SMS lingo but despite that, I think the book was better written than a lot of other supposed ‘National Bestsellers’ out there. Overall the writing is simple and lucid. It is a non-fiction book but is narrated like a novel. You do not have to be an engineer or an entrepreneur to relate to Varun’s story because the problems he faces is faced by most of us. We all have one or multiple ‘Anu Aunty’ in our lives who judge and scare us. At no point did I find myself distracted or bored because the writing is gripping and the story is interesting.
Inspiring: Yes, Varun’s struggle at doing something different and then beating all odds to become a successful entrepreneur is very inspiring. His story can be relatable to a lot of clueless youngsters who have completed their education but are still stuck wondering what they want to do further. This book is a must read for those who dream big but are nowhere close to where they want to be. Varun’s determination and the twist of fate might inspire all those who do not lack talent and wish to chase their dreams.

Nothing. I really enjoyed every bit of this book.
Final View: I would recommend this book to those who are looking for a quick non-fiction read. If you dream of being an entrepreneur someday then pick this book right now. The author’s difficulties and challenges are no different than yours and it will surely motivate you to not give up on your dreams and work harder.
