Non-Celebrity Contestants Of All The Seasons On Bigg Boss

If you think that Bigg Boss 10 is the first season where non-celebs will be staying in the house along with celebrities then you are wrong. Bigg Boss has included non-celebrity contestants right from its first season. The only difference between Bigg Boss 10 and all the other seasons is that this time there are more number of non-celeb contestants. So let’s refresh our memories and see who were the non-celeb contestants in the previous seasons of Bigg Boss.

Season 1

Ragini Shetty/ Abhijatha Umesh

Why on the show?

Abhijatha Umesh was sent in the Bigg Boss house as a spy for the viewers under the name Ragini Shetty. She was supposed to pretend to be a South-Indian actress on the show while giving the viewers insider details of the housemates. Sadly, she could not play her part well and was eliminated early from the show.

Season 2

Alina Wadiwala

Why on the show?

She was introduced on the show as a non-celeb member of the season but later it was revealed that she was a model and has been trying to get into Bollywood for some time. Nevertheless, she was (probably still is) an unknown face for viewers.

Season 3

Pravesh Rana

Why on the show?

He wasn’t really a ‘common man’ contestant because Pravesh had won the Mr India title the year before entering Bigg Boss. However, he still was a fresh new face on TV and not many were aware of his modelling background.

Jaya Sawant

Why on the show?

She is the lady who gave birth to the Bigg Boss season 1 alumni and ‘media ki beti’, Rakhi Sawant. Producers of the show must have expected ek number performance from the maa of Bollywood’s most controversial item girl. Too bad Jaya was evicted in the first week itself so we could not see much of her antics.

Season 4

Seema Parihar

Why on the show?

A former bandit and politician, Seema Parihar was rather well-behaved and polite on the show. In fact, she was liked not only by the audiences but also by her co-contestants. She surprisingly lasted quite long on the show.

Devinder Singh aka Bunty Chor

Why on the show?

The inspiration behind Dibakar Banerjee’s movie Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye starring Abhay Deol, Bunty Chor has allegedly committed over 500 robberies. Now that’s one helluva ‘common man’. He was asked to leave the house on the second day itself due to poor behaviour in the house.

Abbas Kazmi

Why on the show?

His claim to fame was that he defended the 2008 Mumbai attack terrorist Ajmal Kasab. I never understood why anybody would want to see him on the show. Thankfully, he was eliminated in the first week itself.

Why on the show?

Bigg Boss bhi na!! Now what should I say about this contestant? She was invited from Nepal to participate in Bigg Boss only because she was in the news for marrying the infamous ‘bikini killer’ Charles Sobhraj at the age of 20. There’s nothing more to elaborate as that’s all there is about her.

Season 6

Aseem Trivedi

Why on the show?

Aseem had gained fame as a controversial cartoonist. His most famous campaign being ‘Cartoons Against Corruption’ which became popular during the nationwide anti-corruption movement led by Anna Hazare in 2011.

Kashif Qureshi

Why on the show?

Kashif Qureshi entered Bigg Boss season 6 as the representative of the ‘common man’. Sadly, he did not get very popular with the aam junta and was eliminated in the second week itself.

Season 7

Anita Advani

Why on the show?

And Bigg Boss does it again! Brings a contestant whose presence on the show left me wondering for the reason why I watch the show. Anita was the live-in partner of late actor Rajesh Khanna. She was in the news for her feud with Khanna’s family over property claim following his death.

Season 9

Priya Malik

Why on the show?

This Indian teacher from Australia was one of the finalists of Big Brother Australia in 2014 in which she was popular for her humour and competitive spirit. She was one of the most promising wild card contestants on the show. She brought the much-needed energy to a rather dull and boring season of Bigg Boss.

Bigg Boss never disappoints when it comes to selecting the most hatke contestants. This year I hope it lives up to the hype and brings the most versatile characters in the house along with some cool celebs.
